The Elora Gorge Karate Dojo was established by Kyoshi J Purdy in 1984. As an affiliate dojo with Canadian Naha-te Goju Karate, we teach a proven martial arts curriculum for adults and children from beginner to Black Belt. Respect for others is only one facet of how karate training can build positive life habits. Students can improve physical fitness, increase mental focus and strengthen self-confidence while learning valuable self-defense skills.

Head Instructor Sensei Bill Stimpson is a 4th degree black belt and holds a 1st dan in Kyusho Jitsu. Born and raised in the Fergus-Elora area, Sensei Bill has always shown a keen interest in sports and played on Championship teams in both hockey and lacrosse. After his introduction to martial arts training by Kyoshi J Purdy in 1991, he received his 1st degree black belt in 1996.

Sensei Bill Stimpson has assisted Kyoshi J Purdy with teaching karate since 1996. He began teaching full time upon Sensei J's retirement in 2004 and took over full ownership of Elora Gorge Karate Dojo in June 2005. Sensei Bill lives in Elora with his wife and two children. He is an enthusiastic teacher and is a positive influence on everyone who comes in contact with him.

All Instructors at Elora Gorge Karate Dojo are certified CNGK Black Belts who attend regular teaching sessions with Kyoshi J Purdy. CNGK Instructors must pass a police background check before being responsible for teaching classes.
